River Trothy (Mitcheltroy)

Brief description of fishery:

A small tributary of the River Wye mostly less than 4m wide. In Summer it will be shallow but fish will be present in the pools or runs thro the stretch. Can fish well in the Winter when higher water levels in the River Wye force fish into its tributaries.

Access & Parking

Follow A40/449  towards Monmouth,Go through the Monmouth Tunnel and take immediate left on to B4233, Approx 200 yards turn left on to Portal Road at Garage. (B4293).

Follow Portal road for approximately half mile until you see a Council Depot on your right. If space is available, park on the grass verge at the Depot. 
Immediately opposite on left bank of the river, below the bridge will be a style with a No Public Access sign on it. Fishing is from the Bridge next to the style down stream to the next bridge, approx 250m. Access to the water is over the style, all members must keep to the river banks and not wander through the fields. Please ensure all Gates are securely shut behind you. On the far bank, access is from the wall next to the bridge by the Council depot.
