Sunday 25 th October saw the Clubs Pike Fishing Event at Treoes, which is run to let Members who are
unsure about the aspects of fishing for Pike, to learn the aspects of the sport, including the handling
and safe unhooking of Pike.
This year we saw the introduction of “Gert”, which was loaned to the Club from the Pike Angling
Club of Great Britain, to allow to teach how to handle and unhook Pike without using a live Fish.

The day started well and quite soon the Pike came on the feed. It was great to see so many juniors
this year and we made sure that the youngsters got to play a Pike. There were a few of our Members
who regularly Pike Fish on the coaching platform trying to get a Pike for the members to see, but we
didn’t have to wait long before the first Pike was on.

I think you will agree the smiles says it all.
As the day progressed more Pike were landed and a few double figure fish were landed, again, the
Juniors doing the honours.

The day ended with 9 Pike up to 15lbs and 2 Carp that fancied taking a deadbait.

Many thanks to the everyone who took the time out to turn up, especially the youngsters who
enjoyed the day. It goes without saying that these days would not be successful without the help
and enthusiasm of the members who make the day as good as it can be, so special thanks goes to
Richard Turner, Steve Lee, Dave Chard, Calvin Davies and Paul Addecott who gave up their time to
ensure that there was enough gear to go around and everyone was kept supplied with bait.
